You know those times when you get stuck in a low mood, being caught in a negative or pessimistic mindset and for some reason you just feel stuck?
It happens because we’re caught in a loop of recalling past events or emotions and to move on from that you need to have something to help you get “unstuck”.
How would it feel if you had a ‘habit’ that can help you get out of that mood? To be able to shake it off and let go? .
Well there is!
To move from one state to another, you need to change your thought patterns.
It’s a simple process that only takes a few minutes.
Consciously deciding to think of a positive emotion will help you change your thinking. One of the most powerful is ‘gratitude’ as this helps you focus on what you DO have, not what you don’t.
Here’s a quick process you can use to shake things up and change your mood whenever you’re feeling low.
For this part, you may want to close your eyes or not, either way is fine.
Recall 5 things in your life that you are thankful for or that you appreciate.
Create the list in your mind or write them down.
Then one at a time, recall a happy memory of that person / thing / event and as you focus just on that ONE thing, take a big deep breath in and say out loud THANK YOU,
and another breath in and say THANK YOU,
and one more big breath and say THANK YOU.
And sit in the moment being truly thankful.
Then repeat the same process with the other 4.
When you’re done, open your eyes and feel how different you feel about things now?
Recognise how different you feel, just by doing this short and simple exercise .
And, I wonder now, if you want to tell those people just how much you appreciate them?
How great are you feeling now? .
